Real Identity
- The individual self is a mixture of the real and the unreal, a knot of the existent and non-existent, a coupling of the true and false. It is a product of Ignorance.
- But its essence is the light of the Absolute. Its real nature is pure consciousness, self-shining and self-proved and always the same.
- The senses, the mind, the intellect, feeling and will, the internal organ are all products of Avidya and they invariably surround the individual self and constitutes its ‘individuality.’
- But the self really is above them, being the Absolute. As pure and absolute, Atman is beyond any pain, suffering or pleasure. It is Sat- Chit- Anand.
- But due to Avidya or Maya, we (individuals) experince pain, suffering and pleasure. Philosophical or Spiritual counselling helps you to understand the root cause of sufferings and empower us to resolve the conflicts.
I think therefore I am-
- Our ways of thinking influence our ways of feeling, desiring, choosing, acting, creating, relating, and being in the world. But most of the time we don't even notice our patterns of thinking. They run on auto-pilot, fueled by old habits and operating assumptions.
- Our auto-pilot ways of thinking can wreak havoc on our ways of feeling, choosing, and acting in the world. Such ways of thinking may leave you feeling confused, disillusioned, alienated, powerless, worthless, or swimming in a sea of meaninglessness.
How can we conquer the “I”-
- A better understanding of self and mystical world can help us to get better control on ourselves. If we could slow down and reflect on our ways of thinking, we might better understand our orientation on the world, and have a chance to ask questions about it, find out how it serves us, and how it trips us up at times. If we could examine our ways of thinking — our assumptions and values — we might be able to adjust a few things and cultivate greater clarity, coherence, breadth, and depth in our worldview.
Philosophical life– A regular practice of self-examination and deliberate action — the cornerstone of philosophical life, and the very thing we pursue together in philosophical counseling — has the power to increase our sense of understanding, meaning, purpose, freedom, and fulfillment in our lives. It also has the power to transform many of the emotional culprits that cause us suffering — fear, dread, angst, anger, sadness, excessive attachment, jealousy, resentment, and guilt.
Philosophical counselling is, thus, a process that is educative, empowering, and therapeutic.
Philosophical counselling is a collaborative and conversational activity between a spiritually awakened philosopher and a client in which the client’s life-problems are worked through by identifying, examining, and revising as necessary the operating beliefs, values, and habits of action that inform those problems.
